Our world is in a time of deep crisis. Some people will refer to this time as collapse, the metacrisis, the Long Dark or even the Great Turning. At Scintilla, we call it a Reshaping, knowing that how we engage with this time - with our work, our life, our choices - will shape what it is we and future generations experience..

How we work
Skilling Up
To address the crises we face, we must cultivate an approach that transforms both the external systems we live within and the internal landscapes that shape how we perceive and interact with the world.
We equip people with the diverse range of skills needed for transformation, including nonviolence, conflict reconciliation, vision and creativity, moral imagination and more.
Go Within
The crises facing our world are spiritual and relational in origin, going to the heart of what it means to be human and how we relate to each other and the living world. Changemaking without wisdom or soul-work is missing half the puzzle.
We create spaces to reflect on your personal journey as a changemaker, to discern what is meaningfully yours to do in this time, and develop wisdom practices to navigate grief, uncertainty and despair.
Explore Big, Beautiful Ideas
We have answers - or at least starting points - to many of the challenges we face in the world. What we lack is the right questions to facilitate our best use of these answers.
We create opportunities for changemakers to ask better questions, and to explore big, beautiful, complex ideas, breaking down how they relate to you, your community and your work.
Gather Community
Scintilla is more than just a place for skill-building. We foster a community of people committed to a more just, loving and regenerative world.
We cannot hold the world alone - we need each other.

Behind Scintilla
Hey - I’m Laura Hartley, founder of the Scintilla Centre.
I’ve always been interested in the power of stories; in their capacity to connect us, transform us, in their ability to offer wisdom and inspire meaning. Our relationship to stories shaped my love of writing, and my decision to become a coach, to help us challenge the limiting stories we tell about ourselves.
As a climate activist, I saw that stories also lived at the heart of our crises. Stories of scarcity, extraction, violence and separation. I began to wonder how we might change these - and how we might become wiser, more joyful, whole human beings along the way.
Because something I believe is that changemaking isn’t meant to be a struggle, or a feeling of martyrdom, burnout or isolation. There’s effort, yes. It’s long haul work, yes. And we must also allow our bodies to be the seeds of our desired world.

Who’s a Changemaker?
We subscribe to Joanna Macy’s definition of an activist - anyone who is active for a purpose bigger than personal gain.
Remaking the world will take all of us, regardless of our profession. As much as we need activists, politicians and impact professionals driving change, we also need teachers, artists, engineers, creatives, accountants, healers, coders, spiritual teachers, farmers, doctors, social entrepreneurs and so much more.
In fact, we need each of us. Wherever we are, whatever work we are called to - inner or outer.
So whatever your outward work in the world, if you:
